Designer: You said the noticeboard looks attractive. Could you now try to find the time of next week's music workshop?

Visitor: I can see a music symbol, but the text below it is too small to read from here. May I move closer?

Designer: Of course. I will note that you needed to do that. What do you see now?

Visitor: There are two times. I cannot tell whether one is the starting time or the registration deadline.

Designer: That is useful feedback. We should label those details directly instead of expecting readers to work them out.

Visitor: The colours are pleasant, but the pale writing on the yellow background does not seem clear enough. The simple black heading is much easier for me.

Designer: We will test a stronger contrast. Do you need a printed version of the workshop information?

Visitor: Yes, please. I prefer checking the address and time quietly after a conversation.

Designer: We have enough copies here. I will also ask another visitor to try the same task, because one person's experience cannot represent everyone.

Visitor: That makes sense. Could you keep the main heading in the same place when you change the design? It helped me understand which board I was looking at.

Designer: Yes. We should keep useful features as well as correct the problems. A redesign does not need to change everything at once.

Visitor: Then please let me try the new version later. I can tell you whether the two times are easier to understand, not just whether I like the colours.
