Not everyone needs a competition
Our community centre is offering three activities on Sunday afternoon. The table tennis session welcomes beginners, and rackets can be borrowed at the desk. An instructor will explain the rules before anyone starts. A small tournament is optional: people can practise without joining it.
The second activity is a guided walk around the nearby park. It is designed as a slow walk with time to observe buildings and plants. Participants should check the route information before signing up, because part of the path has steps. The centre can explain which sections have an alternative route.
The third activity is a movement-and-music workshop in the main hall. Nobody has to perform alone. Visitors may watch the first part before deciding whether to join. Comfortable clothes are recommended; an expensive costume is not required.
My friends are discussing the choices. I might try table tennis, while my cousin prefers the walk. We do not need to choose the same activity to spend time together: we can meet afterwards. The notice reminds us to ask staff about individual needs rather than assume that one activity is suitable for everyone.
