The blue notebook
Last Saturday, our class was travelling to a small museum outside the city. We arrived at the station early. While most students were looking at the timetable, I was sketching a train in my blue notebook. My teacher asked us to move closer to platform three, so I closed the notebook and picked up my backpack.
A few minutes later, I wanted to finish the picture. The notebook was not in my bag. I remembered putting it on a bench, but three benches looked almost the same. My friend Anya stayed with our group while I told the teacher what had happened. We did not run across the station or leave without permission.
A station worker was checking the waiting area when our teacher asked for help. He found a blue notebook near the noticeboard, but it belonged to someone else. Mine had a small green sticker on the cover. That detail helped another worker recognise it at the information desk.
We reached our platform with time to spare. I felt relieved, but I also noticed something useful: a clear description worked better than simply repeating, 'It is blue.'
