Before our class picnic, we made a shopping list for eight people. Everyone brought their own water bottle, so we did not buy drinks. We chose fruit and bread after checking what people could eat. At the shop, a large packet of rolls looked cheap because it had a bright offer label. However, it contained twenty rolls, and we needed only eight. We compared the total price with the price of two smaller packets. The smaller packets cost less altogether and gave us exactly enough food. We kept the receipt and wrote down the final cost. Planning did not mean choosing the biggest packet or the most colourful label. It meant thinking about our group, our budget and possible waste.
