Interviewer: You recently helped prepare a group visit. What was the most useful lesson from the day?

Marina: I learned that a detailed plan still needs a way to handle change. We had saved a map and timetable, but the transport notice was updated on the morning of the journey. A replacement bus was operating for part of the route.

Interviewer: How did the group respond?

Marina: First, we separated the questions. We needed the departure point, ticket information and an estimate of the journey time. The volunteer confirmed the first two, but she said that traffic could affect the third. We kept that uncertainty when we explained the situation to everyone else.

Interviewer: Did you use English only at the project centre?

Marina: No. Another participant was travelling with us, and we helped each other at the bus stop. She explained how to ask about the return journey, while I clarified a phrase in the announcement. Neither of us had to pretend to understand everything.

Interviewer: What happened when you contacted the centre?

Marina: The organiser offered a later workshop and asked us to go to reception. We put those instructions in one shared note. Our teacher handled the arrangements that needed adult responsibility. We helped make sure everyone had the same current information.

Interviewer: What would you change next time?

Marina: I would include the official update channel and more time between stages. I would also agree beforehand who should contact the organiser if a delay occurs. At the workshop, we designed a visitor guide with a short main page and optional details. That structure reflected what we had needed during our own journey.

Interviewer: Would you call the original plan a failure?

Marina: Not entirely. Some parts were useful, and others needed improvement. A plan cannot guarantee that nothing changes. It can help people choose the next sensible action. For me, progress meant asking clearer questions and sharing confirmed information, while recognising when an adult or specialist should take responsibility.
